Extracurriculars and Leadership Experience

Jun 2021 - Jun 2025

I joined my first lacrosse team in second grade because my best friend at the time convinced me it was much more fun than tee-ball, and I am so glad I did. Over the past 12 years, it has been my favorite activity and something that I have looked forward to every day. When I was going through the college decision process, I knew that wherever I went to school, I needed to have the opportunity to continue playing competitive lacrosse. That led me to UCLA.

My experience playing for the UCLA lacrosse team was nothing short of exceptional. My teammates are some of the best friends I have ever made. My favorite moments include road tripping to places new to me such as Santa Barbara, San Diego, Saint George, Las Vegas, and Tucson. And, it gave me a chance to grow as a leader.

Furthermore, I earned a starting spot in the midfield as a freshman and maintained it all four years, leading the midfield in points my first two years on the team, and earning rookie of the year my freshman year. My junior and senior years I experienced pretty severe injuries, but I was still able to earn all conference and scholar accolades junior year.

Mar 2022 - Dec 2024

Beta Theta Pi, better known as 'Beta', is one of UCLA's premier social organizations. UCLA's chapter was founded in 1926, making it one of the college's oldest. Nationally, Beta is also one of the oldest and largest fraternities being founded in 1839 and boasting 184,000 active members. Beta is best known for its Men of Principle initiative. Its members are taught to trust in one another, value intellectual growth, be responsible in terms of personal conduct, and, overall, to be men with integrity. Historically, Beta's have been very successful after college, amassing the most money between alumni as a chapter.

Personally, some of my best memories being a Beta have been our 'Dog Day' philanthropy event, our tailgates at the Rose Bowl, our annual alumni banquet, and our ice skating social in downtown LA during my sophomore year. The friendships I have made are also invaluable in terms of both personal happiness and network connections.

Volunteer Math Tutor

Sep 2017 - Jun 2021

Tutoring was one of my favorite high school extracurriculars. I initially became a math tutor at my high school because my freshman year math teacher invited me to do it during my study hall periods a few times a week. However, midway through my sophomore year, a family friend asked if I would tutor them after school. At that point, I started tutoring kids during my study hall period during school hours and a few times a week after school. One of my favorite parts of being a tutor was that it kept my math skill sharp.

Role: Math Tutor

  • Tutored between 1 and 5 students for 5+ hours each week to aid in pupils’ understanding and application of mathematics

  • Designed problem sets to work through together, targeting concepts students struggled with to enhance learning process

  • Maintained accurate records of students' progress and performance, tracking improvements and providing feedback to students and parents, facilitating a transparent and results-oriented learning experience

Apr 2019 - Jun 2019

The game of lacrosse has meant so much to my life. It is how I've made many of my friends and best memories. When extended an opportunity to provide an experience like that to others who had not had it before, I was thrilled. Needless to say, all of the kids I worked and played with had the times of their lives.

Role: Teammate and Referee

  • Organized and engaged in NH’s inaugural adaptive lacrosse season, providing disabled youth a true lacrosse experience

  • Distributed specialized playing equipment to athletes and practiced using it together during ‘skill and drill’ sessions

  • Officiated games on modified field spaces with specialized rules to ensure a fun, safe, and smooth experience for all those involved
